Ex Libris Sadeq Sadeqi Pour - Ali Akbar Sadeghi

This work transforms a monograph of Ali Akbar Sadeghi—one of Iran’s most influential visual artists and animators—into a sculptural interior. Through gradual carving, the piece opens a small arched chamber at the center of the cover. Inside, fragments of Sadeghi’s drawings accumulate in layered relief: hybrid figures, patterned surfaces, and mythic motifs converge to form a dense, textured landscape.

At the heart of the carved space, Sadeghi’s eyes reappear from within the book’s interior, linking the excavation directly to the artist represented in the volume. The opening becomes both an entry point and a disruption, inviting the viewer to look into a compressed world of imagery while acknowledging the transformation of the book as an object.

The result is a convergence of two artistic languages—one printed and archival, the other sculptural and interpretive—held together within the altered form of the book.
